A nice backyard patio starts way before the first paver goes down. It starts with the ground beneath it. That's something a lot of people don't think about - but it's exactly where we put our focus on this one.
Before any surface material goes in, the base has to be right. We excavated the area, graded it properly, and ran a plate compactor over a full layer of compacted gravel to lock everything in. That step is what separates a patio that holds up for years from one that shifts, sinks, or cracks after a couple seasons. It's not the flashiest part of the job, but it's the most important one.
Once the base was solid, the patio came together cleanly. The finished surface sits flush and level right off the screened porch - giving the homeowner a natural extension of their living space they can actually use. A spot to put out chairs and a table and just enjoy the yard.
We always say the work you don't see is what makes the work you do see last. Proper grading and a compacted aggregate base are the backbone of any quality hardscape installation. Skip those steps and it doesn't matter how good the surface looks on day one.
The customer was happy, the crew was happy, and honestly - we're proud of how it came out. That's what this work is all about.
